SUSTAINABILITY
COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT
At Angel House, we are deeply committed to the environment and our local community. We strive every day to lessen our impact on Bali’s limited resources and preserve the unique Balinese culture.
We offer unlimited filtered drinking water to reduce single-use plastic water bottles. Fill your bottle for free from one of our convenient water dispensers.
In our commitment to reducing plastic waste on the island, Angel House offers calico bags as ‘a gift’ for our guests to use when shopping.
We participate in the local community recycling program. All glass, plastic, paper and metal are recycled and this service is provided free to our neighbours.
We use locally sourced and organic food where possible and buy cultivated traditional Bali rice (which has no pesticides and is only grown with organic fertilisers). We also do not use MSG in any of our cooking.
We only use neem oil and organic fertilisers in our gardens.
We only use environmentally friendly and fully biodegradable cleaning products.
We encourage our guests to switch off all fans and AC when not in their room to reduce energy consumption.
We compost all our organic materials including offerings (Canang Sari).
Our wastewater system for our kitchen waste converts to greywater.
We encourage guests to go ‘toilet paper free’ by using the mandi hose/bidet hose.
We only use low-watt LED lighting in all rooms, common areas, swimming pool and garden. And sensor lights wherever possible or solar.
We use electric mosquito lamps in the guest and main areas. And have reduced mosquito numbers without using any chemicals.
We have a bio-septic system which uses Bokashi micro-organisms to break down waste.
All staff employed at Angel House are from the local village of Mas, Ubud. The tours we offer support the local community directly.
We actively preserve and respect Balinese culture by participating in village daily life. Mas, Tarukan – Ubud, was declared a ‘Designated Tourist Village’ in 2014 with a halt put on any large-scale hotel, villa or any building that would destroy the unique characteristics and style of Balinese village life. Tourists who want to experience traditional Balinese daily life and culture are now being encouraged to stay in private houses including Angel House.
