When I arrived at Angel House I had an eye infection. The host was very kind and immediately got on her motor bike and went straight to the hospital to get me some eye drops which I really appreciated. My eye started clearing up the next day. The villas are situated in a very lush beautiful garden surrounding a pool. The room had everything we needed and very tastefully furnished in an Indonesian style. We had 2 single beds which were extremely comfortable and was offered a pillow menu if we wished to change our pillows. The room included air con and a fan which were more than adequate. The villa was very quiet which appealed to us as we were looking for a quiet restful stay.We were either able to make ourselves a hot tea/coffee in our room or in another area near the pool which also had a fridge with drinks etc and seating to relax. There is an extensive library if one is short of something to read. .The breakfast was amazing and included a huge variety to choose from including Indonesian favourites eg. black rice with coconut and pandan pancakes which were delicious. The staff even make the sourdough bread which is as good as my local baker in St Kilda Melbourne. This area has quite a few very good restaurants including a new one called Tony Raka(also an Art Gallery) where we ate twice. We found a great little coffee shop nearby which was as good as Melbourne and cost 22,000 Rupiah which is very cheap.Hence we visited every day. We also ate at a couple of the Warungs which had fabulous Indonesian food.We were invited by the host/staff to attend a Mas Community Village Walk to help clean up rubbish(the children did this) followed by aerobics which included an instructor from the village.I did attempt the aerobics for a short time.
The staff were very kind, gracious and helpful.Room was exceptionally clean and serviced each day.My friend and I had 2 massages each during our short 3 day stay. Rusma came to the house and we were able to relax in the comfort of our room as she had a portable massage table. She was very experienced and has worked overseas as a therapist. The massage was amazing and I highly recommend Rusma.
All the staff speak English which is helpful.

We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Angel House. Pak Kadek, Komang and the staff were so welcoming, kind and attentive. It’s a beautiful, peaceful place with a glorious garden and amazing breakfasts. It’s away from the congestion of Ubud, but we found it very easy to get there and back when we wanted to. The kids loved the deep swimming pool, and getting to know the dogs in the ‘gang’, and the rooftop cats. The girls were taught how to make canang sari. The rooms are impressive – perfectly clean, beautifully decorated, super comfortable beds, and lots of attention to small details. Kadek accompanied us to the nearby hospital when our son had an ear infection – we really appreciated his exceptional care, as well as the great local medical service. Thank you for your outstanding hospitality, Angel House. We only wish we could have stayed longer – we will next time!

Visited Angel House hotel when we were traveling in Ubud. The hotel itself was beautiful and the breakfast was very good. But the best thing about this hotel was the staff, especially Komang. They made the whole stay. I don’t think I have ever gotten better service.

I really recommend everyone that travels to Ubud to stay here!

I had the most beautiful, peaceful and relaxing stay with my 2 children at Angel House.
Only 5 minutes out of ubud central, in a village called Mas, I enjoyed an authentic Balinese experience all within walking distance to many Warungs, wood carvers, temples, markets, massages and more.
From the moment we arrived we were taken care of and made to feel like family. The staff were friendly, funny and very attentive. They could not do enough for us. They organised some tours for us which were very reasonably priced with our own guide.
With only 3 rooms in this villa, it is very private and intimate, perfect for families, couples or single travellers. You can even make a group booking and have the entire villa.

The rooms were set out so beautiful, maintaining a Balinese feel. Such good quality bedding, linen and toiletries provided, TV, DVD, AC, fan and more. House keeping each day.

The gardens and pool were stunning, so clean and well maintained, the outdoor kitchen and lounge overlooking the pool was fantastic, a great addition for guests if not feeling like going out to eat.
The home made organic breakfast was out of this world!! To die for AND included in the room price. A three course breakfast with multiple options, plentiful servings and fresh ingredients.

I can’t speak highly enough of Angel House, I will not stay anywhere else when I return to Ubud.

We stayed with two friends at Angel House in November before heading into Ubud.
The rooms were beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean with many environmental touches including filtered water on hand and a cotton shopping bag to keep. A lovely reminder back here in Oz of our stay.. the garden and pool area was a gorgeous relaxing space after busy Seminyak.
Annie and her staff were welcoming and gracious , the breakfast was 1st class and we really enjoyed our time there..

I booked into Angel House many many months in advance after reading fabulous reviews on Trip Advisor, and I definitely wasn’t left disappointed!

We stayed for four nights in December 2019. Right from the start, we realised how amazing this place was. Komang checked us in very quickly, and the kids (7 and 10) were in the pool before we had even opened the rooms. We hired out the entire complex of three villas for our stay, with our 17 year old having one villa to himself, our two kids (10 and 7) with another villa, and then us with the third.

It is very much back from the busy streets of Kuta. You walk down a tiny lane way and at the end is Angel House. The minute you open the door (which is a gate), you enter what feels like another world. The garden is filled with frangipani’s and orchids, very obviously meticulously taken care of. There are little trinkets dotted all over the garden. The pool is sparkling and super clean, and a place where we spent a fair bit of our time. One of the villa’s has a small, open air kitchen downstairs, along with a drinks fridge filled with soft drinks, milk drinks and beer (would have loved to have seen some vodka ice for us girls though ☺️) which you pay for but at reasonable prices. There is also another small fridge for your foods, and cutlery, crockery, a sink, and a large water dispenser. Downstairs in the same villa, it overlooks the pool, so you can sit down on comfy chairs and enjoy your Bintang overlooking your kids in the pool, but completely sheltered from the weather.

The rooms are very clean with western influences. The bathrooms were especially a stand out. There was tea and coffee making facilities in each room, and a jug of water. Each room also had a safe.

The air conditioning worked well, which you do need in Bali.

Beds were comfortable, and our room also had a small couch, which could be made up into an extra bed if needed. And also, there were AUSTRALIAN POWER SOCKETS, so no adaptor needed.

A special mention goes to the way the gardens look at night. They are dotted with fairy lights, and it is quite magical.

In the mornings we opted to have our breakfast made for us and were never disappointed. Komang makes beautiful sour dough bread daily, and we discovered black rice pudding for breakfast…so delicious and filling. The kids loved the sourdough French toast, and we especially loved that there was VEGEMITE!

Komang organised trips for us. One day he drove us around so we could see the markets, and under his and Kadeks recommendation, went to the Sukawati markets instead of the traditional Ubud market. We were almost the only ones there, and although that does make the stall holders a little more enthusiastic with their selling techniques, we all found bargains at a much cheaper cost than Kuta. For example, t-shirts for around $3, a beautiful long dress I purchased for $5, and sarongs for $3.

We then asked him to take us somewhere for lunch that was cheaper, and a mixture of Asian and western food. He took us for a drive to what seemed like the middle of nowhere, and when we got out, in the rain and an afternoon thunderstorm, with someone holding an umbrella for us, we thought he had not heard us say ‘cheap’. It was a gorgeous restaurant overlooking a rice field complete with ducks and finches, and beautiful gardens. The food was delicious, and really not expensive, considering it’s appearance.

Komang also drove us to the Gianyar night market and walked around with us, as I wanted to try the famous Babi Guiling.

One of the best things about Angel House is their attention to cleanliness, and the friendliness of the staff. They were never intrusive, and Kadek and Komang and the girls there were just fabulous.

I think the only downside was that it is quite a way from the Monkey Forest and tourist areas of Ubud, and there are no taxi’s or drivers you can just hail down like you can in Kuta. The traffic in Kuta whilst we were there was horrendous and slow. However, there are a few restaurants close by to Angel House and many Warung’s if you are keen to try the local cuisine. We visited Warung Thor, only 50 metres down the road, quite a few times. It has a nice blend of western and Asian foods, which is perfect for our family. And if you know what you want to do ahead of time, Komang can drive you.

Another special note of mention. If you are awake early enough, open your doors at 6am to the magical sounds of Balinese music and chanting which comes from a temple nearby. It really made us feel so immersed in their culture.

If you are travelling to Ubud, and don’t want to spend a squillion, Angel House is perfect. We loved it and will visit again ☺️
